DIANE VON FURSTENBERG has been named the most powerful woman in fashion by Forbes. The magazine has just released its annual 100 Most Powerful Women list, which sees von Furstenberg ranked at number 33, ahead of fellow industry heavyweights Anna Wintour, in 51st place, Miuccia Prada, at 67, and Gisele Bundchen, at 83. The most powerful woman in the entertainment industry is Oprah Winfrey, who came in at number 11, closely followed by Lady Gaga at number 14 - who, at the age of 26, is also the youngest female to make the top 100. "These are the women who adhere to the traditional classifications of power (political and economic might) and those who have risen to the top of the social and cultural landscape," said Forbes. "It is our annual snapshot of women who impact the world." The top ten was a mixture of leading political figures, with the top three remaining unchanged since last year. Once again German chancellor Angela Merkel took the top spot, shortly followed by US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton in second place, and Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff in third. Michelle Obama is ranked seventh most powerful, while the Queen was placed at number 26. In the celebrity world, music industry stars ranked far higher than Hollywood actresses, with Beyonce at 32; Jennifer Lopez at 38; and Shakira at 40; all beating Angelina Jolie who ranked in 66th place.
