The Kate Hunt

KATE MOSS doesn't ever need to worry about being trumped by a celebrity doppelganger - Alison Jackson, who is known for her photographs of celebrity lookalikes, says that finding someone to accurately impersonate the supermodel is proving a challenge. "We're looking for a Kate Moss body double, but it's very difficult to find anyone of her shape," she told the Evening Standard. "Kate has the perfect configuration, everything's perfect. How do you find that? Some people have the torso, some the legs, but, so far, no one has the full package." The supermodel has also been in the fashion news this week for unveiling a jockey jacket that she designed for Glorious Goodwood Magnolia Cup race.

McQueen’s Visors

MANY incredible catwalk creations never make it to stores, but today Alexander McQueen will begin retailing the futuristic visors seen on the autumn/winter 2012-13 catwalk. The eyewear, which encapsulates the show's "beautiful future" theme, is UV protected and - contrary to appearances - perfectly see-through. The visors will be available from Alexander McQueen stores, online at www.alexandermcqueen.com, and from selected retailers worldwide priced at £270. Several seasons ago, for spring/summer 2010, the brand sent models down the catwalk in its gravity-defying Armadillo shoes - which measured more than 12 inches from heel to top - but never released them for sale.

Marc’s Politics

MARC JACOBS says that fashion and politics don't always mix. However, the designer is known for his open support of several political causes, including Barack Obama's re-election campaign, gay men's marriage rights and his promotion of the Tibetan Freedom Coalition, creating a capsule T-shirt urging the country to be freed from Chinese occupation. The latter caused a furore on China's version of Twitter, Weibo, with Chinese users threatening to boycott the label. "I guess with politics and fashion, you've always got to be a bit careful because somebody's going to get offended or somebody's going to feel it isn't right," Jacobs told WWD. "I don't want to sound stupid or ignorant or anything, but I spend my time in the studio choosing fabric and colours and trying to figure out what we're going to make. If you want to avoid controversy, you just don't do [political] things like that." Jacobs hosted Louis Vuitton's debut Shanghai show last night, complete with the label's famed Express train, in celebration of its newly-renovated Shanghai Maison.

The GREAT project celebrates areas of British excellence - technology and innovation, entrepreneurship, creativity, knowledge, green, heritage, sport, shopping, music and countryside - and Westwood has been chosen to represent the creativity category. Prime Minister David Cameron first announced plans for the initiative in September 2011, with the aim of highlighting Britain as a great destination to visit, live, work, study, invest and do business.

Rag & Bone Return

RAG & BONE is coming to London Fashion Week. The duo behind the brand, David Neville and Marcus Wainwright, will present their spring/summer 2013 collection to the city's press and buyers at the brand's new Sloane Square store this September. "We are thrilled to finally open a store in London," Neville said in a statement today. "It's exciting to present a collection for the first time in our home town and for it to take place in our own store feels really special. Showing during LFW will further strengthen our presence in Europe and, of course, it's lovely to be able to filter it directly to customers in the UK who have supported Rag & Bone since the beginning." The New York-based label - known for its casual-cool aesthetic and star-studded DIY advertising campaigns - will still show on the New York catwalk as usual on September 7 - and the London presentation will be an additional showcase to celebrate the new store opening. "Rag & Bone's presentation is a fantastic addition to the London Fashion Week schedule," Caroline Rush, chief executive of the BFC, added. "It will be a great opportunity for our guests to view their full collection and celebrate the launch of their first UK store." The presentation is scheduled to take place at Rag & Bone, 13/14 Sloane Square, on Saturday September 16 at 4pm. By invitation only.

The August Issue

VOGUE pays homage to autumn/winter 2012-13's key trends in its August issue and, more specifically, the return of the trouser suit - a look seen on the catwalks of Haider Ackermann, Stella McCartney and Giorgio Armani. But, if you still aren't swayed, the Vogue View supplement provides a veritable feast of new season inspiration - from the oversized silhouette to the colour to be seen in (purple in case you were wondering). Trends aside, Emma Stone makes her Vogue cover debut and talks to Alexa Chung about sex scenes, suffering from anxiety and the problems with fame. Fellow actor Gary Oldman opens up to Guy Adams about his "kitchen-acting" and why Christopher's Nolan's new Batman film will be truly unmissable, while Vogue fashion director Lucinda Chambers recalls her life in fashion - from making "hideous" jewellery in her bedroom to working with Mario Testino, Kate Moss and Cindy Crawford. Kathleen Baird-Murray finds out why more and more French women are moving to London, while Vogue deputy editor Emily Sheffield meets cosmetic heiress Aerin Lauder to talk about her new lifestyle brand, proving herself and her famous late grandmother.

There were plenty of the designer's signature ruffles too, adding a whimsical, romantic feel. Updated Monday July 2, 5.19pm: The show we've all been waiting for - Raf Simons' debut collection for Dior - took place this afternoon and it didn't disappoint. Some of the fashion world's biggest names, including Alber Elbaz, Stella Tennant, Natalia Vodianova, Donatella Versace, Charlene, Princess of Monaco, Jennifer Lawrence, and Diane von Furstenberg, watched as the designer's delicious new offering hit the catwalk - from chic, black suits and cocktail dresses to dreamy gowns with full-skirts decorated with embroidery. Updated Monday July 2, 8.35am: Versace attracted an eclectic mix of stars to its couture show held at The Ritz in Paris yesterday, including Pierce Bronsan, Christina Hendricks, MIA, Jessica Alba and Milla Jovovich.
