Vogue: The Pop Issue

THE December issue of Vogue is an explosive celebration of pop in all its many forms - from popular people and pop music to pop-up stores and pop culture. "When I came up with the idea, it was not because I had spotted a root in fashion terms - apart from the somewhat trippy Prada and Miu Miu autumn/winter collections - but now that I've been watching the new-season shows, pop culture references have been bursting out everywhere," said Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman in her editor's letter. "So, as you look at the cacophony of colour, print and excess that this Vogue holds, take note: you are looking at your future, or at least next spring's wardrobe." Supermodel Natalia Vodianova stars on the cover, photographed by Mario Testino, in a shoot that is every bit as colourful and energetic as a tribute to pop should be. If the Russian beauty is our woman of the month, then boy band-of-the-moment One Direction are our leading men. Vogue features director Jo Ellison spends a day with the inexhaustible impressively professional fivesome - a group set for world domination. The December issue of Vogue is available from Saturday November 3.

Hedi Slimane To Dress The Rolling Stones?

YVES SAINT LAURENT has declined to comment this morning on rumours that creative director Hedi Slimane is set to dress The Rolling Stones for their forthcoming tour. The band's publicist also could not confirm yesterday's online speculation, which would see the designer create a wardrobe for the group's four gig dates in November and December. Slimane photographed the fivesome for his coffee table book, Stage, in 2003. The Yves Saint Laurent helmer has long been inspired by musicians - the star of his current "institutional" Saint Laurent campaign is former Girls frontman Christopher Owens and he has previously photographed artists and bands including David Bowie, Blondie, The Strokes, The Kills and Sonic Youth. The designer's work is characterised by its Seventies-inspired rock 'n' roll aesthetic - a style that would perfectly suit every Rolling Stones band member. We can't think of a better music-fashion pairing.

Margiela H&M Pieces Already On eBay

SEVERAL pieces from the Maison Martin Margiela with H&M collection are already available to buy on eBay. The designer-high street collaboration was celebrated with a star-studded party in New York on Tuesday, but isn't due to land in stores until November 15. A number of items from the 105-piece collection have appeared on the auction site, with many currently listed at far higher than the recommended retail price. The £179.99 duvet coat (RRP £179.99) is currently on sale for over £235 and the mirror ball leggings (RRP £29.99) are available for more than £65, while the silver candy clutch (RRP £34.99) is attracting bids as high as £135. All pieces appear to have been posted from the US and reports suggest that guests at the New York launch party - who might have been given early access to the collection - may be responsible. H&M's previous designer collaborations, including Versace, Marni and Lanvin, sold out in-store and online in minutes - with many items inevitably ending up on eBay and other such online auction stores.

Sergio Rossi's Rice Paper Boots

SERGIO ROSSI has collaborated with Chinese artist Peng Wei on a collection of boots made out of rice paper. Not designed to be worn, the pieces pay homage to one of China's time-honoured art forms. Taking the designer's signature Chelsea boot as a starting point, Wei has created eight unique designs - all hand-painted with traditional Chinese symbols and patterns. The artworks will be on display in the Sergio Rossi Paris boutique from today until October 21 to coincide with the FIAC - Foire Internationale d'Art Contemporain - Paris' annual contemporary art festival. The store is celebrating the artistic collaboration with an in-store cocktail reception tonight, hosted by Wei; Francesco Russo, creative director or Sergio Rossi; and Christophe Melard, Sergio Rossi's CEO and President. Sergio Rossi's Paris store can be found on Rue du Faubourg Sant Honore. Click through the gallery on the left for a preview.

The November Issue Highlights

THE November issue of Vogue is a celebration of shopping - whether the online variety or the old-fashioned car boot kind. Reach for your laptop and feel inspired by Vogue's pick of the 100 best online shopping destinations, from clothes and shoes to where to go to buy the perfect gift. Even the most die-hard of high street trawlers can't help but be persuaded by some of the gems unearthed. Model-of-the-moment Cara Delevingne heads to the Ardingly International Antiques and Collectors Fair in Sussex to model this season's eclectic collections, while Suzanne Johnson investigates the appeal of the beloved car boot sale. This issue also looks at the fashion obsession of many - shoes; as three Vogue editors justify their respective footwear choices - from white stilettos to the beautifully ugly. The More Dash Than Cash supplement provides endless amounts of economically-sound wardrobe solutions, with tips from Hollywood actresses to stylish musicians. But if the luxury fashion realm is still more enticing, delve into the beautiful world of Valentino - as Sarah Harris meets the label's helmers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli. Shopping and style aside, this issue is also a tribute to new young talent; Christa D'Souza interviews Hollywood starlet Jennifer Lawrence, who makes her Vogue cover debut this month; as Fiona Golfar meets London's new generation of creatives, from photography students aspiring dancers. The November issue of Vogue will go on sale from Saturday October 6.

Jennifer Lawrence Makes Vogue Cover Debut

JENNIFER LAWRENCE has landed her first ever Vogue cover, starring on the November issue - out on sale on Saturday October 6. The 22-year-old is the second youngest Best Actress Oscar nominee of all time (the youngest was then-13-year-old Keisha Castle-Hughes in Whalerider), and found global fame after playing warrior heroine Katniss Everdeen in the film version of Suzanne Collins' book, The Hunger Games. A star unequivocally on the rise, Lawrence hits our cinema screens again this month with horror film House At The End Of The Street, then again in December with drama-comedy Silver Lining Playbook - alongside Robert de Niro, Julia Stiles and Bradley Cooper. Although she's built a name for herself as being one of Hollywood's more low-key starlets, she's also known for her impressive red carpet prowess - although what she wears isn't something that bothers her actor boyfriend, Nicholas Hoult. The pair worked together on X-Men: First Class, which was released last year. "Oh, he really doesn't care," she said. "Like he'll sometimes wear these white tennis shoes with jeans, then tuck his pants into his socks. He has absolutely no idea how good-looking he is. I think a lot of women and men hate me because of that."
