TEMPERLEY LONDON is opening its first ever flagship store in London's Mayfair this November. The six-floor Georgian space will be situated on Bruton Street, also the home of Matthew Williamson, Stella McCartney and Maison Martin Margiela. "It just felt the right time to enter a new phase of expansion," Temperley told us this morning. "It's an important time to be in Britain and after 10 years we felt that we really needed a flagship. The recession slowed us down a little, but we're much more solid now about our plans and the future. It's something I've wanted to do for a long time and it was important to me to be more central and to be able to show the world what we've been up do. It's nice not to feel hidden.


 " The building will house a two-floor store, carrying all three Temperley collections; Temperley London, Alice by Temperley and Temperley Bridal - as well as press and wholesale showrooms and financial and ecommerce offices. Temperley opened her debut store in Notting Hill in 2002, a space that also acted as the brand's head office. Following a redesign, the boutique will now become the label's occasion dressing destination - featuring eveningwear and Temperley Bridal. "I loved Mount Street, but the building we've chosen is so beautiful and perfect for what we want to do with it," she said. "I love shopping in that area, I love the pub there and the way that Bruton Street connects to Conduit Street then Bond Street. It's a great positioning for us."

"I'm working with friend to create lots of hand-paintings," she added of the store's interior. "We'll be redesigning the rails but a lot of it will be designed from scratch. It'll have a French salon feel with a decorative twist. There will be an opening party nearer the time and a private dressing area too. I'm really so excited." In other Temperley news, fans will have the chance to meet the designer herself this Friday as she makes a store appearance at Hampshire-based boutique Moda Rosa.
