Queen Of Diamonds

THIS summer, in celebration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, some of the royal family's most precious diamond jewellery is set to go on display at Buckingham Palace. Following the enormously successful exhibition of the Duchess of Cambridge's wedding dress at last year's Buckingham Palace Summer Opening, the exhibition will see pieces such as the coronation necklace worn by Queen Victoria, Queen Alexandra, Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth (The Queen Mother) and the current monarch displayed for the public. As well as jewels from the Queen's personal collection, there will also be pieces that she has acquired from previous monarchs. Particular highlights include a miniature crown worn by Queen Victoria - the only monarch aside from the current Queen to have reigned for 60 years or more - for her official Diamond Jubilee portrait in 1897.
