BAFTA Winners

Meryl Streep has been named BAFTA's 2012 Best Actress for playing a very British lady - Margaret Thatcher.
The American actress was honoured for her role in The Iron Lady, her first BAFTA win since 1982 when she won the same accolade for The French Lieutenant's Woman.
Silent film The Artist was the night's big winner, collecting seven prizes including three of the most prestigious awards - Best Film, Best Actor for Jean Dujardin and Best Director for Michel Hazanavicius.

Updated January 17, 9.42am: Meryl Streep and Michelle Williams unsurprisingly both received BAFTA nods today, following their Golden Globes triumph, and critics' favourite The Artist looks set to clean up again at the ceremony on Sunday February 12 at London's Royal Opera House. Although Brad Pitt received a nomination for his part in Moneyball, Angelina Jolie's directorial debut, In the Land of Blood and Honey, was overlooked.
British actress Carey Mulligan started the year off well with a Supporting Actress nomination for her part in Drive, whilst her Shame co-star Michael Fassbender picked up a nomination for his role in that film. British actor Gary Oldman, meanwhile - who took to the Prada catwalk rather than attending the Golden Globes this weekend - received a Best Actor nomination for his role in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Could this finally be the year he receives an Oscar nomination?
