WELCOME TO AUTUMN WINTER 2012 - THE INSPIRED COLLECTIVE FROM VAN DAL

Unsurprisingly trends continue to reflect the general mood, whether in the form of a positive nostalgia or as a reaction to austerity and harder times. With three key looks we have a mix of both for the new season. They include ‘Clear Concept’ a mid-century inspired modernism, ‘Highland Fling’ a British heritage reflection and the glitzy rebelliousness of ‘From Russia with Love’ a subtle nod to the timeless glamour of the Ballet Russe in all its embellished glory. The result is a stunning collection, with seven key groups, enough we would like to think to warm the cockles of any bank manager or customer alike.



MADE IN ENGLAND

Having launched Van Dal Vintage in celebration of our 75th anniversary we find ourselves riding the crest of a tidal wave of British manufacturing revivalism.

Referencing key elements of the ‘From Russia with Love’ trend the highlight of the Made in England collection is the Aurora II, a perfect example of a contemporary classic but with added bling. One, of course, that is made in our Norwich factory.

DON’T MAKE DO. AMEND.

Available for use on selected Van Dal styles in the Made in England group our new mix and match group with removable trims neatly straddles two of the seasons key trends.

With embellishment in place they happily tap along to the Ballet Russe. Conversely, and without trim, the cleaner simpler lines dominate and a ‘Clear Concept’ minimalism emerges.

Trims can of course be used on any plain court or handbag however selected shoes such as Holt shown below come with one pair included and the option of two looks. With more trims available at £18 per pair the choice is there for one shoe and four different looks. So don’t make do with one, open up the possibilities and amend!

AUTUMNAL WEDGES

With strong Highland notes this crepe soled wedge group is perfect for Autumn. Fantastic detailing and rich materials ensure that the soft suede and nappa, gimped edging and subtle hardware deliver a contemporary and hugely commercial category from Van Dal.

With the benefits of ion-mask™, this group offers stylish comfort that will offer protection from the vagaries of the British weather.

WINTERPROOF BOOTS

With our new VanGuard waterproof and breathable membrane these boots are guaranteed to keep you snug and dry next winter. Comfort has been designed in with a combination of features including lightweight PU moulded outsole providing thermal protection and cushioning, moulded ankle support, antibacterial lining and an anatomically moulded footbed.

Available in soft crinkle patent and nappa leather the clean lines of these designs heavily reference our Clear Concept them making them a great partner for a smart, chic winter outfit.

BONNIE BROGUES

Ok so this is no Tarrantino-esque pulp fiction but the immortal line “ bring out the gimp” is a perfect introduction to our collection of Highland inspired brogues and loafers.

Beautifully crafted with soft nutty leathers the punched detailing and gimped edging look delicious. With a fantastic and super flexible partner loafer, called Windsor, you can say goodbye to those stiff, stuffy and poor imitations, and embrace a new level of comfort.

FLEXIBLE FRIENDS

In a continual quest for better shoes we set about deconstructing our

traditional courts. The aim was to maintain the trademark Van Dal

look whilst further improving flexibility and comfort.

Shoe construction inevitably involves compromise amid layers of material and adhesive. In combination these help to provide those nice straight lines that rise to a perfect ‘clip’ at the heel. The downside can be a lack of flexibility which can reduce comfort.

The result of our work here though is a range of leather courts that offer both the look of Van Dal with the comfort of a casual shoe. Buttery soft foulard leathers, flexible outsoles, engineered linings. The result is a shoe as flexible as a leotard worn by the Green Goddess at her best.
